IT'S ME
MARIO! ...ZIE
— an interdisciplinary artist who’s dabbled in just about everything: illustration, photography, web development, product design… you name it. I’ve been working professionally in the creative world since the late ’90s, but honestly, I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pen. (my parents actually had to ban me from drawing a handful of times.) ... but I guess I always managed to stay the course, and now I'm here.

ZZETTO?
I created ZZETTO to share my designs, sketches, ideas, concepts—and even spontaneous doodles—through products like shirts, stickers, posters, and more, including handcrafted limited runs. What started as a shop will hopefully grow into something more: a creative playground of sorts for experimental drops and imaginative twists on everyday things. Basically anything creative I'd like to try out and share.
So, why the name ZZETTO? What does it mean, and where does it come from? ZZETTO is simply the letter Z, pronounced the way Koreans and Japanese used to say it in the ’70s and ’80s—the era I was born and grew up in. The giant robot Mazinger Z, for example, was pronounced Majinga Zetto—and it also happened to be my very first manga.
I’m Korean, but a lot of my artistic influences come from Japanese culture—especially manga and anime. It all started when I was four, obsessing over Sanrio characters, and that love never really left. Japanese entertainment still shapes my work today, from its meticulous attention to detail to its iconic kawaii aesthetic.
MAKE MORE ART
“Make More Art” has become my personal mantra lately—pushing me to keep creating and, hopefully, inspiring others to do the same. I want to encourage fellow artists to keep going, and maybe even introduce art to people who haven’t had the chance to connect with it up close. In a world that often feels like it’s spiraling or speeding past us, I think it’s more important than ever to keep art—and artists—woven into everyday life. I believe Art has the power to ground us, uplift us, and spark something real.
And honestly, we need that now more than ever.
